Yog: Monster From Space |

Starring Akira Kubo, Atsuko Takahashi, Yukiko Kobayashi. Directed by Ishirô Honda. A space probe returning from Jupiter brings back unexpected guests. But hey, guess what? Those guests are not giant monsters! Nope, they're parasitic spore thingies who take over regular Earth critters and turn them into giant monsters. Akira Kubo is, as usual, an excellent hero, but one wonders how the great Ishiro Honda could have helmed such an otherwise mediocre movie. |

South Korea, 1967 |

Starring Yeong-il Oh, Jeong-im Nam, Sun-jae Lee. Directed by Ki-duk Kim. A nuclear test in China releases a giant dinosaur from hibernation. The monster rampages through Korea until a young inventor kills it with a special chemical. Made when Godzilla reached the height of his popularity, Yongary, Monster from the Deep was a blatant attempt to capitalize on the sucess of that most popular of movie dinosaurs. This movie is quite similar to Giant Monster Gamera, made at about the same time. It was dubbed and released in the US, much to the delight of b-movie fans. |
