Godzilla on CNN

CNN and other news outlets have been running stories about the new Godzilla film, placing their emphasis on Godzilla's "retirement." Personally, I think it will last about as long as the Big G's last retirement, but if the revenues aren't there I guess I can't blame Toho for shelving the character for now. I dunno, maybe if they hired some writers to come up with some new directions for everyone's favorite giant lizard. . . .

GODZILLA: FINAL WARS to celebrate 50th Anniversary of the Big G

Check it out kids, as reported by Aaron Smith over at the incomparable Monster Zero:

. . . Toho has finally annouced [sic] the
50th anniversary film: GODZILLA: FINAL WARS. The front page of of Toho's official website has been updated to reflect this. As expected, Ryuhei Kitamura is directing the film which is scheduled for a December 11, 2004
release.

. . .

-Principle [sic] photography begins in May

-At least 10 or more classic monsters are scheduled for an appearance but also including a brand new kaiju called Monster X (gonna say tentatively until we know for certain but that's what the article said) which is
designed to be the strongest opponent Godzilla will ever face.

-Locations include: New York, Shangai, Paris, etc

-Producer Shogo Tomiyama claims to want to make the 50th the best they can, a final film for this generation, with new films not arriving for possible 5 or 10 years.
