1915: JIM DANNALDSON, spider handler on "Earth vs. the Spider", is born.

1922: TETSURO TAMBA, who played the warrior in the "Hoichi the Earless" segment of "Kwaidan", Prime Minister Yamato in "Tidal Wave", Dr. Nishiyama in "Last Days of Planet Earth", Col. Kojima in "Mount Hakkoda", Noguchi in "Message from Space", and statesman Nakata in "Tokyo Blackout", is born Shozaburo Tanba in Tokyo. The Yakuza star was also in "Black Lizard", and "Samurai Reincarnation", but is perhaps best known as Tiger Tanaka of the Japanese Service in "You Only Live Twice".

1943: TORU MINEGISHI, who played Lt. Goro Gondo in "Godzilla vs. Biollante", is born in Tokyo.

1953: MICHAEL R. LONG, who did stunts on "Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero" and "Godzilla", is born in San Diego.

1954: The first episode of eleven of "Kaiju Gojira" airs on the NHK radio network.

1966: "Urutoraman" ("Ultraman") premieres on Japanese TV with Episode 1, "Ultra Operation #1".

1969: KAZUKI KITAMURA, who will play the Alien from Planet X in "Godzilla: Final Wars", is born in Osaka.

1971: "Gamera tai shinkai kaiju Jigura" ("Gamera vs. the Deep Sea Monster Zigra") a.k.a. "Gamera vs. Zigra" is released in Japan.

1910: SANEZUMI FUJIMOTO is born in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. He co-produced "The Three Treasures", "The Human Vapor", "The Last War", and "Godzilla vs. the Thing".

1927: WAYNE HEFFLEY, who played an Air Force general in the 1976 remake of "King Kong", is born in Bakersfield, Calif.

1957: KAIZO HAYASHI, who wrote and directed "Cat’s Eye", wrote "Tokyo: The Last Megalopolis", and directed "Tokyo"Power Rangers Time Force", is born in Kyoto. He was also in "Mikadroid".

1962: "Kujira gami" a.k.a. "The Whale God" is released in Japan.

2001: G-FEST 2001 concludes. "Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla" makes its U.S. theatrical debut at the event.

2002: PHILIP ROTH, who was in the U.S. version of "Tidal Wave", dies of colon cancer in Los Angeles. He was born in 1928 in Kansas City, MO.

2003: "Yokai Monsters: 100 Monsters" is relased on DVD in the U.S.
"Dark Water" is screened at the Hamburg Fantasy Filmfest.

1910: WILLIAM HANNA, who produced "The Godzilla Power Hour", is born in Melrose, N.M. Beginning his career, and his partnership with Joe Barbera, creating MGM’s Tom & Jerry animated shorts, he went on to produce "Yogi Bear", "The Flintstones", "The Jetsons", "Space Ghost", "Scooby Doo Where Are You?", and "The Smurfs".

1968: Episode 41 of "Ultra Seven", "Challenge from Underwater" (a.k.a. "Killer Lake"), debuts on Japanese TV.

1913: MARVIN MILLER, who was the narrator for the U.S. release of "Godzilla Raids Again" and was in the U.S. version of "Tidal Wave", is born Marvin Mueller in St. Louis, MO. A narrator on many TV shows and films, he is best remembered as the voice of Robby the Robot in "Forbidden Planet" and as the star of TV's "The Millionaire", and won Grammy Awards for narrating Dr. Seuss stories.

1939: DAISAKU KIMURA, cinematographer on "Tidal Wave", "Mount Hakkoda", and "Virus", is born in Tokyo.

1949: DAVID O. SELZNICK, who co-produced "King Kong", marries actress Jennifer Jones.

1955: YOSHITAKA TANBA, who played Goro Sakurai a.k.a. Spade Ace on "JAKQ Blitzkrieg Squad", is born in Tokyo. He is the son of Tetsuro Tamba.

1960: P Productions, the studio which produced "Space Giants", "Spectreman", "Vigilante Lion Maru", "Fuun Lion Maru", "Tetsujin Tiger Seven", and "Electroid Zaborger", is founded by Tomio Sagisu.

1973: Episode 41 of "Warrior of Love Rainbowman", "The Battle With Cyborg Mark 1", debuts on Japanese TV.
