Ankrum, who was in over 160 films, also appeared in "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo", "Joan of Arc", "Invaders from Mars", "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers", "The Giant Claw", "Beginning of the End", and "X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes", and frequently played a judge on TV’s "Perry Mason".
