1936: MASUMI OKADA, who played Atsushi a.k.a. Ito Mura on "The Space Giants" and Dr. Jules Masson in "Latitude Zero", is born in France. He also appeared in "Living Skeleton" and played Dr. Mohammad Mansur in "Sayonara Jupiter", Brother Michael in the miniseries "Shogun", and was a frequent judge on "Iron Chef", as well as producing "Battle Royale".

1963: STUART FRATKIN, who played the Utah ensign in "Godzilla", is born in Los Angeles.
NATE D. SLOTT, second assistant director on "The Amazing Colossal Man", dies of cancer in Los Angeles.

1965: SHINJI HIGUCHI, special effects director on "Gamera: The Guardian of the Universe", "Gamera 2: Attack of Legion", and "Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris". Beginning his career as a special effects assistant on "Godzilla 1985", he went on to do the sfx on "Mikadroid" and "Sakuya: Slayer of Demons" and helped out on "Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack", as well as being a storyboard artist on the "Giant Robo" anime.

The Japanese-Canadian actor played Dr. Tantobo Korda in "The Mysterians", gangster Mr. Chin in "The H-Man", Dr. Robert Suzuki who created "The Manster", a journalist in "The Human Vapor", one of Nelson’s henchmen in "Mothra", a warship captain in "Atragon", the chief archer in "The Lost World of Sinbad", "Don’t Call Me a Con Man", "The Killing Bottle", a kidnapped scientist in "Latitude Zero", Chieftain Ombo in "Yog — Monster from Space", "Tidal Wave", "Marco", and Dr. Kawamoto who was eaten by "The Last Dinosaur". He died in 1992.

1940: PAUL WILLIAMS, who was the voice of Freddy the Bomb in "Solar Crisis", is born in Bennington, Neb. The actor/songwriter penned the songs "We’ve Only Just Begun", "Rainy Days and Mondays", "Just an Old-Fashioned Love Song", "The Rainbow Connection", and the theme for "The Love Boat", starred in "Phantom of the Paradise", and was the voice of the Penguin on "Batman: The Animated Series".
