1896: HANS J. SALTER, who wrote stock music used in "20 Million Miles to
Earth" and "King Kong vs. Godzilla", is born in Vienna.

1909: JACK R. BERNE, assistant director and production manager on "The
Amazing Colossal Man", is born.

1925: YUKIO MISHIMA, who wrote the play "Black Lizard" and played the human
statue in film version, is born Kimitake Hiraoka in Tokyo.

1937: BENT MEJDING, who played Svend Viltorft in "Reptilicus", is born in
Denmark.

1948: CARL WEATHERS, who played Eric in "The Bermuda Depths", is born in New
Orleans. A former football player with the Oakland Raiders, he's best known
as Apollo Creed in the "Rocky" films. His other films include "Bucktown",
"Friday Foster", "Close Enounters of the Third Kind", "Semi-Tough", "Force 10
from Navarone", "Death Hunt", "Predator", and "Action Jackson", and the TV
movies "Assault on Devil's Island" and "Shadow Warriors II: Hunt for the
Death Merchant".

1954: RISA KOMAKI, who played Peggy Yatsuyama a.k.a. Go Pink on "Secret Task
Force Goranger", is born.
MIDORI HAGIO, who played Kaori Yamada in "Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla",
is born in Fukuoka.

1968: Episode 15 of "Ultra Seven", "Ultra Garrison Go West Part 2" a.k.a.
"Planets in Conflict Part 2", debuts on Japanese TV.

1969: DAVE GROHL, lead singer and guitarist of the Foo Fighters, who
performed "A320" on the "Godzilla" soundtrack, is born in Warren, Ohio. He was
previously the drummer for Nirvana.

1981: CHIHARU NIYAMA, who played reporter Yuri Tachibana in "Godzilla,
Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack", is born in Aomori City,
Japan. She was also on "Ringu: The Final Chapter".

1984: Episode 49 of "Science Task Force Dynaman", "End of General Ka",
debuts on Japanese TV.

1994: Episode 46 of "Five Star Task Force Dairanger" debuts on Japanese TV.

2001: Episode 48 of "Kamen Rider Kuuga", "Kuuga", debuts on Japanese TV.

1946: ETTA MCDANIEL, who played a native woman in "King Kong", dies in Los Angeles.

1953: SILVANA GALLARDO, who played T.C. in "Solar Crisis", is born in New York City.

1973: Episode 27 of "Kikaida", "The Violet Top Shell's Evil Passion", debuts on Japanese TV.
Episode 94 of "Kamen Rider", "Gel Shocker — The True Nature of the Leader", debuts on Japanese TV.

1976: BRAD HAWKINS, who played Ryan Steele on "V.R. Troopers" and Trey the Gold Ranger on "Power Rangers Zeo", is born in Dallas. He appeared on the TV series "Step By Step", "Walker, Texas Ranger", "JAG", "Touched by an Angel", "Thieves", and "Crossing Jordan", the miniseries "Shake, Rattle and Roll: An American Love Story", and the film "Don’t Let Go" for which he sang on the soundtrack.

1983: ARTHUR SPACE, who played Dr. Sharman in "20 Million Miles to Earth", dies of cancer in Hollywood, Calif.

1998: JORGEN BLAKSTED, who was a naval officer in "Reptilicus", dies in Denmark.

As the head of the music department at Universal Studios, he provided the music for "Winchester '73", "Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man", "Creature from the Black Lagoon", "Touch of Evil", and "Spartacus".

1954: Shock jock HOWARD STERN, whose bit "Godzilla Goes to Harlem" got him fired from the Boston University radio station in 1973, is born on Long Island.

1970: ZACK DE LA ROCHA, former lead singer for Rage Against the Machine, who performed "No Shelter" on the "Godzilla" soundtrack, is born in Long Beach, Calif.

1973: Episode 15 of "Warrior of Love Rainbowman", "Murder Professional", debuts on Japanese TV.
