1903: JOSEPH F. BIROC, cinematographer on "The Amazing Colossal Man", is born in New York City.

1909: SHIN SABURI, who was in "Deathquake", is born in Hokkaido.

1915: LORNE GREENE, who played Ambassador Warren Richards in the U.S. version of "Tidal Wave", is born in Ottawa. He is best remembered as Ben Cartwright, the patriarch on TV’s "Bonanza", and later on "Battlestar Galactica". Known as "The Voice of Doom" for his Canadian radio broadcasts during World War II, he scored a #1 hit in 1960 with "Ringo".

1924: LOUIS ZORICH, who played the Russian Ambassador in "Gammera the Invincible", is born. He is married to actress Olympia Dukakis.

1927: H.M. WYNANT, who played IXL Executive #1 in "Solar Crisis", is born.
BOB TETRICK, who played Deputy Dave in "Earth vs. the Spider" and was in "War of the Colossal Beast", is born.

1959: GEORGE ANTHEIL, who composed music used in "20 Million Miles to Earth", dies in New York City.

1967: Episode 31 of "Ultraman", "Who Has Come?", debuts on Japanese TV.

1972: Episode 46 of "Kamen Rider", "Confrontation!! Snow Mountain Demon Bear Congar", debuts on Japanese TV.
Episode 59 of "Spectreman" (actually a rerun of Episode 9), "Terror of Nezubardon", debuts on Japanese TV.

1977: Episode 80 of "Secret Task Force Goranger" debuts on Japanese TV.

1989: FRANK KING, producer of "Gorgo" and the U.S. release of "Rodan", dies at 75.
Episode 15 of "Kamen Rider Black RX", "Robo Rider's Birth!", debuts on Japanese TV.

1992: Episode 50, the final episode of "Dinosaur Task Force Zyuranger", "Dinosaurs Banzai", debuts on Japanese TV.

1994: NAOKI YASUKOCHI, who was in “Zebraman”, is born in Chiba, Japan.

1911: KIMIYOSHI YASUDA, who directed "Daimajin", "100 Monsters", and "Along with Ghosts", is born in Tokyo. He also directed many "Zatoichi" and "Kyoshiro Nemuri" films before he died in 1983.

1918: RYO IKEBE is born in Tokyo. He played Maj. Ichiro Katsumiya in "Battle in Outer Space", Dr. Tazawa in "Gorath", and Professor Takigawa in "The War in Space". He also appeared in a number of classics and war films, such as "Farewell Rabaul", "Early Spring", "Snow Country", and "Mishima — A Life in Four Chapters".

1944: KOJI SHIMIZU, who played Heihachiro Ikuma on "Ringu: Kanzen-ban", is born in Kyoto.

1962: YUKI YASHIMA, who played Yellow Four on "Super Electron Bioman" and Helen on "Space Sheriff Sharivan", is born.

1968: Episode 19 of "Ultra Seven", "Project Blue" (a.k.a. "Wayne, Lord of the Universe"), debuts on Japanese TV.

1969: JAMES LANPHIER, who played Col. Harvey in "The Deadly Mantis", dies of a stroke in Los Angeles.

1977: "The Last Dinosaur" premieres on ABC.

1981: Episode 44 of "Ultraman 80", "Aggressive Showdown! 80 vs. Seven", debuts on Japanese TV.

1982: TAKASHI SHIMURA dies in Tokyo at 76. Best known to G-fans as Dr. Kyohei Yamane in "Godzilla, King of the Monsters", Shimura was also known for his roles in such Akira Kurosawa classics as "Rashomon" and "The Seven Samurai".

1994: Episode 50, the final episode of "Five Star Task Force Dairanger", debuts on Japanese TV.

2000: “Ju-on” premieres in Japan on video.

1969: KOZE IDE, co-writer of "Mikazuki" and co-producer of "Mobile Sheriff Jiban" and "Iria: Zeiram the Animation", is born in Taipei, Taiwan.

1937: SHOZO UEHARA, main writer for "Zone Fighter", "Inazuman", "Electroid Zaborger", "Secret Task Force Goranger", "JAKQ Blitzkrieg Squad", "Electronic Task Force Denziman", "Solar Task Force Sunvulcan", "Solar Task Force Sunvulcan: The Movie", and "Space Sheriff Gavan", is born in Okinawa. He also penned Episode 49 of "Ultraman Tiga".

1945: STEVEN KEATS, who played Chuck Wade in "The Last Dinosaur", is born in New York City. He was also in "The Executioner's Song".

1963: NORVAL D. CRUTCHER III, supervising sound effects editor on "Ultraman Powered", is born in Burbank, Calif. His eponymous father was also a sound editor.
