1931: LEONARD NIMOY, who played a Telex operator in "Them!", is born in Boston. Best known as Mr. Spock from the "Star Trek" TV and film series, he also appeared in the films "Queen for a Day", "Rhubarb", and "Zombies of the Stratosphere", the TV series "In Search Of", "Ancient Mysteries", and "Brave New World", and wrote and directed "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home".
1934: AKEMI NEGISHI, who played the dancing native girl and boy’s mother in "King Kong vs. Godzilla", is born in Tokyo. Her other credits, often playing native girls, include Josef von Sternberg’s "Anatahan", Chika the mountain girl in "Half Human: The Story of the Abominable Snowman", and Akira Kurosawa's "Record of a Living Being", "The Lower Depths", and "Dodes'kaden".
1937: MISA UEHARA, who was in "The Three Treasures", is born in Fukuoka.
1948: AYUMI ISHIDA, who played Reiko in "Tidal Wave", is born in Osaka.

While Japan's most famous director had no direct involvement in kaiju eiga, he was a fan of Godzilla, was a good friend of Ishiro Honda (who served as assistant director on Kurosawa’s early and laterfilms), and many actors (most notably Takashi Shimura and Yoshio Tsuchiya) worked in both kinds of films.
1919: KENNETH TOBEY, who played Colonel Jack Evans in "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" and Pete Mathews in "It Came from Beneath the Sea", is born in Oakland, Calif. He starred on the TV series "Whirlybirds".
1929: HIROSHI INUZUKA, who was in "Don't Call Me a Con Man" and "Daigoro vs. Goliath", is born in Tokyo.

1924: BENT VEJLBY, who was a soldier in "Reptilicus", is born in Denmark.
1931: HAL LINDEN, who dubbed the voices of Yashi in "Godzilla versus the Sea Monster", Yamabe in "Destroy All Monsters", and the narrator in "Deathquake" in the U.S. releases of these films, is born Harold Lipshitz in New York City. Linden is best known as the star of TV’s "Barney Miller", he was also in the series "Blacke's Magic", the film "Out to Sea", and won a Tony award in 1970 for "The Rothschilds".
1956: NAOTO TAKENAKA, who played Shirokage in “Red Shadow” and will be in the remake of “Yokai daisenso”, is born in Kanagawa, Japan.
1962: WALTER E. KELLER, production designer on "Earth vs. the Spider", dies at 69 of arteriosclerosis in Hollywood.
1963: HIROSHI WATARI, who played Den Iga a.k.a. the title character in "Space Sheriff Sharivan" and in "Space Sheriff Shaider: Pursuit! Shigi Shigi Abduction Plan", is born.
